Archie's Fancy (CG Anglo Concertina)

CG Anglo concertina tutorial.  Nice cheery waltz which I have already taught on the DG melodeon.

Very satisfying to play.

The Butterfly (DG Melodeon)

Finally! A tutorial on one of my favourite tunes on the DG.

Les P'tits Yeux Noirs (GC Melodeon)

This is a charming, slow French waltz in the key of C major on the lower pitched GC box. Over 54 minutes of tuition!

We'd Better Bide A Wee (DG Melodeon)

Beautiful, old, Scottish song which is very satisfying to play. A waltz in D major with some interesting grace notes.

Mockingbird Hill (DG Melodeon)

Lovely gentle waltz in D major.  This is really enjoyable to play. The tune comes from Norway.

Wellerman (DG Melodeon) FREE!

The ever-popular sea shanty.  This is very straightforward and great fun to learn and play.

Sir Roger de Coverley (English Concertina) FREE!

English concertina tutorial.  Wonderful old slip-jig in 9/8.  You may know this as Mr. & Mrs Fezziwig's dance from the 1951 film "Scrooge" starring Alastair Sim. I think this tune actually dates back to the 1600's.  I thoroughly recommend this one - great fun to play and it sounds fantastic.

Blaydon Races

Performed on a Jackie English Concertina and a Martin EC-00028 Eric Clapton Martin Acoustic guitar - this is a Geordie folk song often sung by Newcastle United supporters. This is a very interesting way of playing the English concertina in that I am playing sustaining bass notes as well as the tune.

Nya Manvalsen

DG Melodeon Tutorial

Lovely tune written by Benny Andersson of Abba. Quite a challenge but great fun to play.

Sally's Song

 CG Anglo Concertina Lesson.

Beautiful but melancholy tune from the film "The Nightmare Before Christmas" This tutorial uses standard musical notation!

Dunking Biscuits

English Concertina Performance.

This is a comical song that I wrote for children to sing. Tutorial available on request. Click here for the sheet music

Planxty Irwin (NEW!!)

Another Turlough O'Carolan tune.  This one is a waltz with a very interesting bass part.
